 The newspaper Record reported that the coaching staff of the Portuguese national team, led by Roberto Martinez, has decided to exempt captain Cristiano Ronaldo and 7 other players from participating in the friendly match against Sweden.

Portugal Portugal will play against Sweden in a friendly match on Thursday, followed by a match against Slovenia next Tuesday.

Record explained that the Portuguese national team decided to exempt Cristiano Ronaldo, Diogo Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitorino, and Joao Felix from participating in the friendly against Sweden on Thursday.

They will join the camp after the match in preparation for the match against Slovenia on Tuesday.

It was previously stated by Bayern Munich on their website that their Portuguese player, Rafael Guerreiro, is suffering from a tear in the left thigh muscle.

The club stated that the player will not join the Portuguese national team's camp and will continue rehabilitation in Munich.

The Euro 2016 champions are preparing for Euro 2024 in Germany next smmer.

It's worth mentioning that Portugal completed the qualifiers with a perfect record, winning all 10 matches.

However, sources within the Portuguese Football Federation clarified to the American network that these players will be present in the friendly match against Slovenia, scheduled for March 26th.
