Mbappé said, "I know that I won't be stepping on friendly ground there (laughs)," adding, "Personally, I have no problem with whatever awaits me there (like jeers), but I understand it personally. Even though I represent my country's team, I will remain in their eyes (Marseille fans) a player for Paris Saint-Germain, so I don't expect the red carpet to be rolled out for me."

The fans of Olympique de Marseille consider Paris Saint-Germain as their eternal rival, and their matches are usually intense and fiercely contested.

In recent years, Mbappé has become accustomed to scoring goals for Paris Saint-Germain against Marseille, having scored 13 goals in their last 15 matches.
